Anastasios Petropoulos and Theodore Antonakopoulos:
Accurate PCM Crosspoint Emulator and its Use on Eigenvalues Calculation
The 25th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems - ICECS 2018, Bordeaux, France, December 9-12, 2018.
Abstract: Phase-change memory (PCM) is the most mature candidate technology to be used in in-memory computing
systems. For being able to experiment with large-scale PCM configurations, we developed an accurate and precise hardware PCM cell model that
emulates the basic intrinsic impairments of the PCM technology, and we used it in a N×N PCM crosspoint emulator for matrix-vector multiplication.
In this work, we present details of the architecture of a PCM cell emulator and its use in a PCM crosspoint. We also demonstrate how the PCM
crosspoint is used for eigenvalue calculations of symmetric positive values matrices.
